With an approximately 916 bed capacity and 20 patient care units, plus 8 special nursing departments, we have about 625 nurses, including 31 nurse managers, 28 clinical nurse educators and 8 Advanced Practice Nurses (APNs).

The quality of the nursing department at Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital is manifested by the professional climate in which nurses strive to update their knowledge and skills to minimize any gap separating them from advanced nursing level practice. This attitude results in a better quality of patient care.

The influx of western nursing management style, education and practice have exerted a great influence on our nurses¡¯ thinking, attitude, and practice of patient service and care.

Despite the advanced, western-influenced nursing knowledge and skills, we treasure our Chinese values of holistic nursing care, with consideration for the cultural diversity of the patients. In past years, we have been active in sharing our knowledge and experience with many nurses from across the nation, by conducting continuing education programs and providing the Nursing Residency Training Program.
