The department of head & neck/plastic surgery was established in 2003. It was combined with two separate departments: head & neck surgery and plastic surgery. The new department succeeds the old one¡¯s advantages and offers full-range care of common and complex problems of head & neck, oral & maxillofacial region, cosmetic, and reconstructive surgery. During recent years, the department improved rapidly and became famous for its endoscopic assisted microinvasive surgery. The aim of our department is microinvasiveness precision and cosmetics.

The department is composed of two chief attendingss, three attendings, four fellows and six residents. All are well trained in their profession and have their own area of interest. Four of them have Ph.D degrees, three have their master¡¯s degree.

There are many distinct specialties in the department:

MIET: Minimally Invasive Endoscopic Assisted Thyroidectomy. Through a single small incision in the mid lower neck, assisted by endoscope and harmonic scalpel, partial thyroidectomy and total thyroidectomy were done with decreased trauma and improved cosmetic results. The department is the first to do MIET surgery and now is famous for the surgery. Many patients from various districts were attracted to SRRSH by the operation.

MIEP: Minimally Invasive Endoscopic Assisted Parotidectomy. Through a sheltered, small incision, assisted by endoscope and harmonic scalpel, partial or total parotidectomy facial nerve dissection created minimal trauma, preserved facial nerves and obtained better result.

Sheltered Small Incision Endoscopic Assisted Cosmetic Surgery and Mass Extirpation Surgery: with assistance from an endoscope, the incision is sheltered and there are better cosmetic results.
