With an aging population, valvular disease is high on the list of diseases treated by this department. A number of our staff have spent a year or more abroad in cardiovascular training. Lung and esophageal cancers are very common in Asia, and when diagnosed are often treated with thoracic surgery.

Minimally-invasive procedures are also highly utilized for appropriate procedures, thus leading the patient to early ambulation, with the result of less surgery-site discomfort.

Cardiothoracic teams from the US, Canada and Australia have visited, allowing the exchange of ideas and sharing more advanced techniques. Our goal continues to be that of providing quality surgical care at the highest level.
